Jury Deadlocked in Murder Case

Posted By The Alband Law Firm || 29-Nov-2013

The jury has deadlocked in the murder trial for 30-year-old K.M., who is accused of killing his father during an argument in 2011. The jury was deadlocked at 11–1, with one juror unwilling to vote guilty. The case revolved around whether or not K.M. acted in self-defense. At this time it is uncertain if the case will be retried.

Self-defense can be difficult to prove, particularly when the altercation results in a fatality. Violent crimes are heavily punished in Texas, and the death penalty imposed in many cases. If you are accused of committing a violent offense, you need an experienced defense lawyer on your side who can protect your rights and aggressively fight your charges.

You may be under the impression that all criminal defense lawyers are experienced at trial; in fact, many lawyers avoid trial whenever possible, and seek a plea deal instead. There are times when a plea bargain could be a positive outcome, but your attorney must be willing and able to craft a powerful defense.
